Korea Shoe Haul (Part 2) - Adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott 2ne1 Wings

This is the reason why I left Korea broke. Broke but happy. If you are a kpop fan then you should know 2ne1. If you're a blackjack then you probably know that they are often garbed in Jeremy Scott. If you're a hardcore blackjack then you should've known that this certain type of wings was designed for 2ne1. And since I'm a hardcore Blackjack/VIP/YG stan I just have to get my hands on this certain pair.

It was one of my missions in Seoul, to find myself a pair of wings. Not this particular kind actually. What I had in mind is a simple white or black one but I guess I got lucky. I chanced upon this pair at an Adidas Originals store in Itaewon. I also wanted to buy my son a pair of teddy bear sneakers but they don't carry toddler sizes but my mom found this cute tiger stripe rubber shoes and bought it for him.

Details

Sizing: I got a US 5.5 pair and it fits just right including the socks.
Comfort: Hella comfortable
Price: I said I got broke after I bought this right? :/
Oomph Factor: It's a pair of shoes with wings. I'm sure heads will turn.
Pair it with: The shoe is crazy enough so I suggest you tone down your clothes when wearing this pair.

When worn

Broke but happy. Yes.

Korea Shoe Haul (Part 1) - Dr. Martens Floral Boots

I have to inform you that this is a two-part blog entry. I only bought two pairs of shoes when I was in Korea but both are just too awesome to be in same post. lol. First one is the Dr. Martens floral boots that I bought at ABC Mart Myeongdong branch. Already saw this pair at an ABC Mart near Hyewadong but unfortunately they didn't have it in my size. ABC Mart is scattered all over Seoul so I opted to find another branch and luckily I found it at one of the branches in Myeongdong and it was the last one in my size. Talk about lucky. I know that I just got to have it. It was too good to pass up.

Sizing: True to size. I got a size 6.
Comfort: Unlike the 1460 boots that you have to break in, this is made from soft leather so it was really comfy and easy to walk on. 4/5
Price: Ahhh I forgot how much is it. :'(
Oomph Factor: It's DM's with flowers. Need I say more? 5/5
Pair it with: I prefer wearing it with a short flowy dress.

I had a hard time packing my things on our way back because I only carried a medium size luggage and it was already filled to the brim with winter clothes and pasalubong. haaaayyy. And it will be such a waste if I buy another luggage since I really didn't get to shop much because everything was so darn expensive. hahaha

Will post the second part tomorrow.
Have an awesome day everyone!

Virtual Try-on: Jeffrey Campbell Brazen

Recently bought this pair of eye candy through Solestruck.com. It was one of my impulse buys that I am now starting  to regret. Don't get me wrong, these babies, as you can see are gorgeous, it is even lovelier in person but it is just not for me.  Maybe it's because of the color? Since I really intended to buy the hologram one but they were not available in my size.

So I have decided to let it go. If anyone is interested in buying this lovely pair of shoes. E-mail me at daphneee.bh@gmail.com. I'm selling it at half it's original price and it's brand spankin' new. :)

Sizing: It is true to size. Bought it at size 5.5 and it fits like a glove. :)
Comfort: It is not hard to walk on since it was platforms but it is gloriously high so be careful not to trip. 3.5/5
Price: Bought it at full price but I am selling it for half it's original price. (What a steal right? Buy it now! lol) 5/5
Oomph Factor: This pair is really cute and can easily spruce up any outfit. I think the heel/platform height is really the highlight of this shoe. 3/5
Pair it with: Distressed shorts and a graphic tee

When worn

It comes with it's original box together with the individual shoe bags PLUS I can ship it wherever you are as long as you shoulder the shipping fees. Hehe.

That Ombre Hair

Remember the time when ombre hair was all the rage? Well, I also jumped into the ombre bandwagon earlier this year. I thought of having it done professionally, which I know would cost me an arm and a leg but I read about a DIY hair bleaching product that would have the same results as a salon treated one. It was not easy to find that product because it was sold out everywhere. I called every branch in the metro but they all the same answer, "it was out of stock". Also tried my luck when I was in Korea, searched every store but I had no luck on finding it. After countless store visits, I finally got my hands on that precious product after three whole momths.

I colored my hair first into a light brown shade so that the ombre would come off more natural. I used the bubble hair color from Etude House but I forgot which shade. I think it was number 2 or 3? I opted to wait for a week before I started to bleach my hair. It was a harrowing experience because I was afraid that it would come out ugly or it won't suit me. It took me two boxes of bleach before I got it right. Thankfully it came out great!

Pardon the mirror shots. Those are my only stock photos.

Some words of caution before you try to bleach your hair. It would definitely dry up your hair. You've got to have some daily regimen other than shampooing since it will become very dry and very brittle. Conditioning everyday is a must and you can also try hair treatment products and do it at least once a week. Maybe you can also visit a salon once a month for some professional hair care. You're hair will need all the TLC that it can get.

My ombre lasted a couple of months before my hair got too long and needed some re-bleaching. And honestly, i was also starting to get tired of it. But instead of bleaching my hair again and risking further damage in my hair, I decided to cut the ombre part off. It was probably for the best because I was starting to neglect it. Now, my hair is just falling below my shoulders and I'm starting to think about bleaching it again and maybe add some color to the tips. Maybe pink, blue, or purple? What do you guys think?

But if you are afraid of having your hair fried by bleach, there are other options to achieve an awesome ombre. May I suggest you try some hair chalk (a bit messy though) or how about the fail-safe micro loop hair extensions instead. It will definitely have the same ombre effect and you may choose how blond you want to go plus it is detachable so you can go ombre one day and back to your old hair the next. :) You may want to check out  this site for more cool and different types of hair extensions that is made from 100% human hair. They have everything and may help you find the one that is suited for you.

The Ubiquitous: Acrylic Clutch

Here's a new segment on my blog. The Ubiquitous. It means "something found everywhere or present". So I'll be reviewing some of the latest trends right now. My first victim is the ACRYLIC CLUTCH.

I was actually drawn into the craze 'cos I found the clutch cute although it doesn't hold a lot of things. I tried to find a suitable (meaning "cheap") clutch for me at online shops specifically on Instagram (add me: blahxxdaf) but it is quite expensive. Price ranges from 1500 Php - 2000 Php and being the cheapskate that I am, I opted not to buy online. Next, I tried searching for it in stores. I found one at Stradivarius but it retails for 2k and I don't want to spend that much on a tiny clutch. I was about to give up but I chanced upon that bloody clutch at SM department store. And guess how much is it? It is only 700 Php. I was in heaven.

Pros:

  • Cute
  • Cheap
  • Detachable chain strap
  • Versatile
Cons:
  • Small
  • My wallet doesn't fit :/
  • Can be scratched easily
  • I find the chain a bit tacky
Overall satisfaction: 7/10

I love this clutch because of its versatility. It may not be roomy and It was not the color I was rooting to get but I am satisfied with this purchase. I used it during my son's birthday party and some of my date days with the husband.

If you are planning to buy an acrylic clutch, I suggest you buy from SM instead of online shops since they offer the same kind of clutch but for a much cheaper price. :)

How do you like my new segment?
Next topic: The Zara origami skort.

Seoul Food

My first ever meal in Korea was actually McDonald's egg McMuffin. I know, I know, why the heck did we go for McDonalds when we are in freaking Korea, land of kimchi and bibimbap! We arrived at Incheon airport at dawn and the only establishments open were KFC, McDonalds and Jollibee CHOS! Walang Jollibee 'dun unfortunately.

So this is the compilation of the food we had on our week's stay in Korea.

LUNCH AND DINNER

This spicy grilled chicken is from a restaurant outside Nami island. This has to be the best spicy grilled chicken I've ever tasted. Hands down! Coincidentally, a friend of mine who also went to Korea said that this is her favorite dish from the same restaurant. :)

If you are interested on trying out this dish, the restaurant is located beside TOP bungee jump. You can't miss it!

Ahhh this was our first Korean dish. It was from a hole in the wall joint near Namsangol Hanok village. The kimchi stew was so spicy and delicious, my nose kept running. LOL. But I needed that because it was too cold outside. Around 3-4 degress Celsius. The food was delicious and cheap too.

Another favorite dish of mine. This one is from Yeolbong chicken shop. It is owned by a famous kpop idol Se7en. All I can say that this is a must-try!!! The thick glass noodles are to-die-for and the chicken is best paired with their seaweed rice.

We went around 7pm at their Gangnam branch and the place was packed. We had to wait for 5 groups to be seated first but it was worth the hassle. Promise! Keep an eye for celebrities, they often dine here! :)

My mom and her friend's favorite restaurant. They absolutely loved the sausage stew here plus the servers can pass as kpop idols. Hahaha. This restaurant was 2 blocks away from Changdeokgung palace. We were drawn to eat there because one of the attendants can speak fluent English. Hehe.

Never go home without trying Samgyeopsal!!! It is basically just grilled pork but it is so damn good wrapped in lettuce.

We tried some fusion dishes too but it was just meh.

SNACKS

This is what I would like to call a poop bread. Hahaha. It is a poo-shaped bread with bean filling. It was ok for a 1000 won snack.

Blueberry yogurt bread from Paris baguette and drink from a convenience store. This is my breakfast almost everyday because it is sooooo yummy plus the nearest cafe from our hotel is Paris Baguette. How I wish they would open a branch here in Manila. :(

If you are a Blackjack or VIP (kpop thing), you might've heard about this place. It is owned by one of YG's producers, Teddy Park (former 1TYM member). I was actually hoping to bump into some Bigbang or 2ne1 members but luck was not on my side that evening. *sigh* I ordered the black panini 'cos it looks so interesting, but there was nothing special about the taste. On the other hand, the strawberry ade was so delicious and refreshing. I would definitely order the largest cup on my next visit.

Last but definitely not the least. A cult favorite, the banana milk. Haha. This is so popular in Korea no? My mom loved it but I didn't like it at all. You can find this at any convenience store. Oh you can also find some here in Manila, on K-groceries around the metro.

Ahhh this post is making me want to go back to Korea. Hopefully soon! :)

OOTD: Dragon Huang edition

I'm sure some of you heard about that kid Alonso Mateo, the uber fashionista son of Luisa Fernanda Espinosa who is a fashion icon herself. I'm taking cues from his son's sense of fashion and taking it as an inspiration on dressing up my sons. So here's a little something I put together for my son's 1st birthday party. It was a "Farm" themed party so the suspenders is a-must plus I added a the Jordan's for a more modern vibe.

I'm hoping to post more OOTD's featuring my sons. But I have to think about it first. Hehe

You guys like it?

Something Floral and Digital

Received my latest care package from Oasap. And I must confess that this package is by far my favorite!
I was actually on the hunt for a Mary Katranzou-ish kind of dress. You know, the digital prints, mirror image, floral, those kinds of stuff. This dress hits the spot. Aaaahhhh I can't describe the perfection of this dress. First of all, I am in love with bodycon dresses, and if you add flowers in it, then that's it. I would totally buy it, no questions asked.

Awesome Floral dress c/o Oasap

So if guys are interested in owning a similar or the exact same dress, CLICK HERE!
And I'm telling you, you won't be sorry! Heeh!

Wanderlust: South Korea

As a huge kpop and k-drama fan, it is a must to visit the "homeland". It has always been a dream of mine to breathe the same air and walk the same ground as the many kpop idols I adore. And since I have also converted my mom to be a k-anything addict, it was easy to persuade her to book a flight to South Korea. Haha. So yes, I have crossed another one from my long bucket list.
WARNING PHOTO HEAVY POST!!! :)
Day 1
Incheon Airport
Korea House
Namsangol Hanok Village
Myeongdong

World's no. 1 airport (2012)
This is one crazy HUGE airport. It has its own railway system INSIDE the airport. Deyng! Plus the duty free shops are to die for! How I wish NAIA would be like this.
Korea House is situated near our hotel so we decided to take a peek. We didn't get to do much though, but they offer traditional cooking classes and traditional shows in the evening.

My ninja/akyat bahay pose at Namsangol Hanok village
Found this couple seated near the entrance of the village. I just love this photo so much.

Hanok is the traditional house in Korea. So this village is basically full of traditional houses plus you can also enjoy their traditional games etc.
Day 2
Changdeokgung Palace
Secret Garden
Insadong
Ssamziegil
Seoul City Tour bus (night course)
Cheonggyecheon stream

All photos above are taken at Changdeokgung Palace's secret garden. Didn't post any from the other sites we visited since I'm reserving it for my part 2. :)
Day 3
Itaewon street
Namsan Tower
Teddy bear museum
Gangnam
PSY bear.
Resisted the urge to do the Gangnam style dance beside it.

I have tons of photos but I have decided to just post the ones taken from N-Seoul tower and the Teddy bear museum (which is inside N-seoul tower).
If you have watched "Boys over Flowers", I am pretty sure that you are familiar with this site. But in case you forgot, let me refresh your memories. This is where Gu Jun Pyo waited for Jandi for 4 hours. Their 1st date. Haha. Oh and the prince and princess Teddy bears are from the k-drama "Princess Hours" which is one of my favorite k-drama's of all time.
Day 4
Nami Island
Hongik University
Mapo-gu
Are you familiar with the k-drama "Winter Sonata"? This island became a popular tourist destination because of that drama. I am in love with this place. We came in between winter and spring so there are still small patches of snow. It was so darn cold but the view is just breath taking. I would love to go back here during spring and catch the beauty of it in full bloom.

Photo # 3 - obligatory jump shot taken by my mom
Photo # 4 - Lovers in Nami (HAHA laughing at my own joke *lame*)
Photo # 5 - This is the ferry or whatever you want to call it, that carried us at Nami. It comes every 30 mins.
Day 5
Hyewa Dong
Filipino Sunday street market
Ihwa village
Lotte World
We went to Hyewa Dong because we wanted to hear mass since it was Sunday. Little did we know that they celebrate the mass in Tagalog there which was awesome. There was also a Filipino street market every Sunday just outside the church and we met some Pinoys who reside and work there.

Ihwa village is not as popular as other tourist spots in Seoul but I think it is worth the hassle. My mom chanced upon the place when she was watching 1 night and 2 days. This village has its own character and it comes alive with the murals and art installations found everywhere.

Our last stop for the night is Lotte world! We didn't get to Everland so I think this will do. Haha.
Day 6 and 7 was allotted for shopping and my pilgrimage to YG building which you will be able to see on my next post.
I am definitely going back to SoKor soon.
Thoughts? :)
